A lawn blister appears on the surface of lawns that have been layered with plastic sheeting below. Incredibly, this sheeting is inserted to help grass grow in lawns with barren soil.

To put it simply, barren or dead soil is covered with a plastic sheet, which itself is then lined with fertile soil, in which grass is planted. That’s all good and well, but what led to the lawn blister’s formation in James and Sarah’s backyard?
