Blondie Suffered From Gross Mismanagement
It was thanks to Debbie Harry’s grungy influence that the new wave flavor of Blondie was so impactful. But it was not her relationship with fellow band member Chris Stein that would lead to Blondie’s downfall. Rather, mismanagement would strike at the band’s cohesion. Sadly, the band did not hire the most competent accountant, who was reluctant to pay the band’s taxes while their best-performing songs were being released. Stein’s 1982 development of a skin disease would be the straw that broke the camel’s back and the band finally broke up.
