What Was Trapped In The Water
Noemi moved closer, careful not to slip on the wet stones. The tide was starting to rise, and each wave pushed more water into the rocky pool. Then she saw it clearly. A wolf pup was stuck between two rocks. Its small body was soaked, and one of its legs seemed caught in a narrow gap. It was exhausted from trying to free itself. Noemi’s fear changed into urgency. The adult wolf stood nearby, watching every movement. Noemi knew she had to be careful. A frightened wild animal could react badly if it thought she was a threat. So she spoke softly, keeping her voice calm as she crouched near the pup. The pup whimpered again. The water was rising.

Noemi looked around for help, but there was nobody nearby. She tried calling emergency services, but the signal came and went. She managed to send her location, but she knew help might not arrive fast enough. She had to do something now. The gap between the rocks was narrow. Noemi reached down slowly, trying not to scare the pup. The adult wolf stepped closer, and Noemi stopped immediately. For one tense moment, their eyes met. Then the wolf backed away. It was allowing her to help. Noemi took a deep breath and reached again. The pup was shaking badly, but it did not bite. She touched the trapped leg and realized it was wedged under a loose stone. If she could shift the stone just enough, the pup might get free.
