Although Netherlands was neutral during the war, after Nazi invasion and a bombing of Rotterdam (with Dutch troops surrendering) they had no choice but to get involved in some or other way to thwart further efforts to capture territory.

High ranking Dutch officials and the Royal Family fled to London immediately, and some even made it all the way to Canada. Some of the Netherlands remained under German occupation right until May of 1945. In this photo, Dutch children show Allied soldiers how to do a traditional dance, in an unexpected moment of kindness.
