The African tribes that use discs to expand their lower lips, such as those seen in magazines such as National Geographic, are no doubt familiar to you. While this may seem unusual to those of us in the Western world, it is considered a sign of beauty in their eyes.

The size of the discs with which the females begin to stretch their skin out varies, and the larger the disk, the more important the girl is regarded in society as being. That, of course, means that when she gets married, her dowry will be somewhat bigger as well.
