The Expert Realized It Was Not A Duckling
The wildlife expert leaned closer, studied the tiny animal carefully, and then gave the family the news they never expected. This was not a duckling at all. According to him, the Johnsons had found a baby platypus. For a moment, everyone just stared at him, trying to understand what he had said. A platypus in their backyard sounded almost impossible.
The expert explained that a young platypus is extremely unusual to find away from its natural river habitat. The animal was clearly vulnerable and needed proper care right away. The family had done the right thing by keeping it safe and calling for help instead of trying to raise it themselves.
