Naours In France
One of the most prominent underground cities in France can be found just below the village of Naours in the Northern region of the country. The inhabitants of the area are well known for generations of taking refuge in the underground complex in times of political unrest. When exploring this underground “bunker” city, historians and archeologists were stunned to see there were chapels, bakeries and extensive living quarters. A closer look at graffiti found on the walls suggests that soldiers in both World Wars sought refuge in the area as well.
