The Verve Was Out Of Its Depth

The Verve became a sensation thanks to songs like “The Drugs Don’t Work” and “Bittersweet Symphony”. Their fame would only carry them so far, however, as the middle of the 90s saw the band fall apart. They would end up patching things up and 1997 saw them reunite, at least for some time. Then, in 2007 and 2008, the band was an on and off performance, specifically for the latter year’s Glastonbury Festival. By 2010, the group would conclusively split after Richard Ashcroft’s self-serving, solo career-inspired exploitation of the rest of the band became too much for members.
